Embracing The Magic Within: My Journey with Witchuals

Ok it’s a Witchy Ritual but dammit, I love wordplay!

From a young age, inspired by those iconic spooky movies “The Craft” and “Practical Magic,” I was drawn to the mysterious world of witchuals. It wasn’t the specific doctrines or set rituals but the heart of the craft that appealed to me. With time, solo witchcraft became my spiritual home; a place without boundaries, where my spirit felt free to wander and discover.

A witchy teenage CJ

My journey with tarot cards, moon gazing, journaling with intention, and candle magic began, and I felt an intimate connection with the world around me. However, life is a rollercoaster, and when I faced the painful loss of my Dad, my faith wavered.

Wavered she says… My faith did a full-on bunk and left me in the dust. I found it cruel that he suffered for so long and then left us without ceremony, I couldn’t face connecting with my own magic for over a decade.

It wasn’t until I got married and travelled the world, the loss of my Mum, and the global challenges faced during the pandemic that it brought me back to my roots. Through all the chaos, I found solace in the craft, remembering how it once healed my wounded heart and continues to do so.

The past few years have been transformative. Rediscovering my heritage, where my Dad was a Romany and my Mum, a reluctant medium and a closet witch, allowed me to create a flourishing business. My mission? To help others recognise their potential, break free from self-limiting beliefs, and design a future they love.

Throughout this journey supported by witchuals, I took on the mountain – that we’ll call the Great Release – of shedding weight and rejuvenating my spirit. I’m currently around 13lbs (just under 1 stone) away from hitting 100lbs loss. The most I’ve ever lost, but more importantly I am able to intermittently run regularly. Something I never could do before with my weight the way it was.

My witchuals aren’t always grand. Sometimes, it’s as simple as leaning out my back door, basking in the moonlight, and whispering a thank you. I often remind my clients and loved ones, that it’s okay to adapt and improvise. Doing your best, with love and intention, is what truly counts.

If you think rituals are elaborate, time-consuming ceremonies, think again!

  • Morning Magic: Brushing your teeth, stretching in the morning – these everyday acts are rituals too! Why not add in a gratitude practice or an affirmation?
  • Personalise Your Practice: Your rituals should reflect YOU. Jazz it up, change it, and make it yours! Want to light a candle at 3pm instead of 3am… You do you boo. It’s YOUR life!
  • Crystal Companions: Revel in the energy of your crystals. Let them radiate their magic just like you do. Pop them in your purse, your car, wear them as jewellery, over door frames, by windows, and of course on your altar.
  • Moonlit Moments: Whether you’re fully immersed in lunar rituals or just beginning, the moon awaits your conversation. Sit by a window and whisper your intentions to her light.
  • Intention Setting: With every ritual, you’re crafting the life you dream of – with a sprinkle of magic, of course! Set those intentions with one caveat: This, or something greater.

Did you know rituals have profound benefits?

  1. Grounding Grace: In the tumultuous waves of life, rituals serve as an anchor, grounding us and alleviating anxiety.
  2. Empowerment and Self-Worth: Engaging in rituals instils a sense of empowerment, guiding our paths with clarity and purpose.
  3. Healing Harmony: By reflecting and reaffirming our intentions, rituals offer us a safe space for healing.

My go-to simple rituals?

Drawing a tarot card and journaling about the emotions and images it evokes, lighting a candle with a specific intention, or using herbs in my cooking that amplify my spiritual practices and stirring in love! Speaking of stirring – your tea, coffee or even that delicious pasta sauce – clockwise for building, anti-clockwise for unravelling.

Sometimes, it’s as straightforward as writing an intention on a bay leaf and then safely burning or burying it.

Witchuals (ok, rituals) are a beautiful bridge between our internal world and the vast universe around us. They are a reminder that even in the mundane, there is magic waiting to be discovered. So here’s to the magic in and around us. Dive deep, embrace it, and let it transform you.
